- Curb-side RecyclingMany neighbors have expressed an interest in being able to recycle and receive curb-side service. This option is available in Sommer Place through Waste Management. The cost is $3.25 per month and is billed in advance for the quarter. They provide an 18 gallon container, but you can put more out without an extra fee. They collect newspaper, junk mail, glass of all colors, cans and plastic (#1 & 2). They do NOT take cardboard. They collect every other Tuesday and you do not have to sort recyclables.
On a personal note, we are a family of four and only fill one garbage can to put out for pick-up every week. While walking I have noticed how few people currently recycle and how much more garbage they have to be collected.

- Trick-or-Treat TimesI am new to the neighborhood and was wondering what day and time do the kids usually trick-or-treat? Some past neighborhoods have done it days other than Halloween is why I ask. Thanks,
KimEmail:kim.osborne@yahoo.com - Please Watch Your Speed in Sommer PlaceIt has been noticed that people drive very fast in Sommer Place either going or coming to the comunal neighbors' park. Including the daily tractors and construction trucks. Sometimes it is very dangerous and noisy. We are very concerned about this and for the neigborhood's children.
- Not Enough Time - Delicious homeade food delivered to youAs school is starting, we are all short on time & I thought I would share a great find with the neighbors. I found a lady who makes fresh homemade burritto's, salsa & chips & much more (Italian, French, etc). The best part: she will deliver to Sommer Place. It is in-expensive too. All you need to do is provide her is 24hrs notice. Her name is Goya & her number is 550-4948.
- Watch your speedRecently 25mph speed limit signs have been posted in the neighborhood. Many people have been watching their speed; however, there are still many who do not, including neighbors not just kids or construction workers. Please be respectful of your neighbors & watch your speed as there are many children who play in their yards. It takes only one time to accidentally hit a child who may not see a car speeding down the road.
- Baby Sitter for HireHi! I am Kyle, my family has lived in Sommer Place for three years . I am 13, I am very responsible and I love kids, I have an 8 year old brother and a 2 year old sister that I watch. I also babysit for other families in Sommer Place. References are available. - Donating FurnitureDonating furniture is easy with South Side Mission. Please refer to their website for more information.
- Irrigation System and GPSDIf you have a separate meter for your irrigation system you can contact the Greater Peoria Sanitary District at 637-3511 for credit off your bill. Usually residents ask for the reimbursement in the Fall after the irrigation system is turned off for the winter.
- New kids educational websiteCheck out this new website that helps kids learn. It will be expanded it to include Middle School and High School this year as well. It saves parents time by publishing a short list of useful products and educational resources.
Website:www.ourlearningtree.com - Speed LimitWhile all neighbors are improving their mindfulness of the posted speed limit of 25mph. I would find it also respectful of those neighbors who find it necessary to put cones or signs in the road to alert drivers of children playing, to please place them at the curbside. Placing the cones out into the street is also a hazard and may increase the likelihood of an accident. It may also against city code to do so.
- First Class GrassWhether you need your yard mowed weekly or once in awhile, it can be arranged. I am 26 years old, with the Army National Guard on weekends and own my yard business through the week. My parents live in Sommer Place so I do promise to care for your yard as though it were my own.
